our story

200 years in the making
The Bradfield Plough has been part of Low Bradfield for longer than anyone can remember. The building started life as a farmhouse, sitting in the valley between the moors and the reservoir, and at some point somebody had the good sense to start pulling pints. That was over two hundred years ago.
A lot has changed in Bradfield since then. The Bradfield Plough, largely, hasn't. It's still a proper local, still run by people who care about getting the basics right, and still the kind of place you can walk into on a Tuesday night and feel immediately at home. The food is cooked fresh in our kitchen, the ales are chosen with a bit of thought, and the welcome is genuine.
We're not a gastropub trying to be a restaurant, and we're not a chain trying to feel like a local. We're just a very good pub in a very beautiful part of the world, and we've been doing this long enough to know what that means.
our menu
the freshest ingredients
in our skilled hands
Everything on the menu is made in our kitchen from fresh ingredients. No shortcuts, no reheated dishes dressed up as something better. Just honest pub food cooked by people who take it seriously.
The menu runs from classic favourites to seasonal specials, with something for everyone at the table. Thursday nights belong to our Burger Night, where any burger on the menu is £10 served with fat chips. Sunday is carvery day, carved to order and popular enough that booking ahead is always a good idea.
We also cater for dietary requirements across the menu. If you have specific allergen needs, just let us know when you book or have a word with the team when you arrive.

Room for everyone
The Bradfield Plough has always been a family pub in the proper sense. There's space inside for larger groups, a beer garden the kids can actually use, and a bouncy castle out every weekend and throughout the school holidays. If you're planning something bigger, a birthday, an anniversary, a get-together, we can accommodate private bookings and larger parties. Get in touch and we'll sort something out.
A Proper Peak District pub
We're six miles from Sheffield city centre but feel a world away. Tucked into the Bradfield valley on the edge of the Peak District National Park, The Bradfield Plough is an easy run from Sheffield, Stocksbridge, Chapeltown and the surrounding villages. Whether you're looking for a proper Sunday lunch out of the city, a midweek meal somewhere with a bit of character, or a venue for a family get-together, we're worth the short drive into the hills.
on the Bradfield trail
Low Bradfield sits right on the doorstep of some of the Peak District's best walking country. Agden Reservoir, Damflask, Strines and the upper Don valley are all within easy reach, and The Bradfield Plough is exactly where you want to end up after a few hours on the hills. We're dog friendly, we dry out wet coats without complaint, and the kitchen is open all day. Park up, pull on your boots, and we'll be here when you get back.

ready when you are
Book a table online
We take bookings for food seven days a week. If you're coming for Sunday carvery, planning a larger group, or visiting on a weekend, we'd recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. For weekday lunches and smaller parties, walk-ins are usually fine, but a reservation is never a bad idea.
